One More Time a Daft Punk Tribute

A while back I was commission by a friend to do some clean up work on their new set of helmets that were needed for tour and photo shoots. They needed to be super smooth because they had to look flawless once they were chromed.

This is how they looked when they were dropped off. The gold and chrome ones were their old touring helmets and were left just for reference.

On the blue helmet there were a bunch of imperfections that were left in the casting from the key locks on the mold. They had to be filled and sanded smooth several times just to make sure there would be no issues with them.

The other helmet had a few minor spots that had to be fixed, and my friend wanted the helmet to be a little thicker. Another coat of fiberglass was added to the inside and then covered with a black resin to completely seal the fiberglass. Also a waste mold was made so a vacuform buck could be made so we could make clear visors in the future.

Once I had a good piece for the vacuform buck I could then cut off the dome on the helmet.

Casey Jones Photo Shoot

About a month back I finished up my Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Casey Jones costume and wanted to do a photo shoot of the finished costume. A friend of mine shot the photos while I was dressed in the costume, and I am very pleased the way they turned out.

 

Who are you?

This is the Bane mask that I built from scratch for a commission. It is made of urethane rubber and resin with magnetic openings on the sides. I will go into detail on the mask at a later date, but for now enjoy the pretty pictures.

There's a storm coming...

Joker's M76 for The Dark Knight

Back in the day when I used to dress up as the Joker for comic con's and Halloween I wanted a prop that I could carry around with me. Now I figured most people dressing up would choose a knife or a joker card, but I wanted something a little more unique. I chose his gun from the street truck scene, the M76. I first researched as much as I could of the weapon saving every picture I came across so I could eventually make a blueprint of it.

I then figured out which materials I wanted to use to make this prop and designed a few templates to be laser cut. Not going to go into the details of the build as this was several years ago, but I'll show you some pictures and you will get the idea. Thanks for looking and enjoy.

Gizmo Update

Small Update: I have all the parts needed to complete this Gizmo. I first need to paint the silicone pieces, then I can assemble him and add the fur.

The Amazing Spider-man!

This costume was built when my Spider-man 3 symbiote suit could not be finished in time for Halloween. It was a pretty easy costume to build, and probably the most difficult part was designing the print for the front and back of the shirt in Adobe Illustrator. The pattern was cut in vinyl and applied to the shirt as a stencil, then sprayed over with Design Masters black spray paint for fabric.

Iron Man Arc Reactor

A couple years ago I had it in my head that I was going to build a complete Iron Man Mark 3 suit. Well that didnt quite happen, but I did manage to build the arc reactor for it. I made all the templates in Adobe Illustrator and had all the parts laser cut out of different materials. I also worked out the wiring for the lighting. It has 11 bright white LED's and runs off one 9V battery.

Green Goblin - Spider-man

Years back I received this fan sculpt of the Green Goblin helmet from Spider-man the movie. It was in pretty rough shape with broken teeth, cracking fiberglass, missing lenses and a ton of uneven areas. All was smoothed with automotive body filler and re-enforced with new fiberglass. New lenses were cut from iridescent plastic ornament balls and the teeth were molded and recast. Unfortunately I dont have any other pictures of the helmet other than the ones taken at different stages of paint. The final paint is a House of Kolor limetime green pearl with a purple/green flip clear coat and a super gloss on top.

This is the original color I painted it at first, but it looked to silver to me, even though in other light it was green. It also had a green/salmon flip clear on it as well.

This picture was to show the test fit on the eye.

These photo's of the helmet are the way it looks today. It changes color in every kind of light. I wish it had more purple in the flip paint, but you never know I may revisit this prop again.
